Halloween costume

Sub-ZeroThe best Halloween costume I got was sub-zero. I got that this year before my school’s dance. I always liked sub-zero after I played mortal kombat deception. The first time I played the game was on my uncle’s ps2. Sub-zero was the character I found the coolest with his outfit. I thought he was an Eskimo but found out later while I was playing that he had ice powers. Last year I did research on him and found out his whole story which was interesting.

Mileena

Mileena is a playable and boss character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. Mileena was originally known as the personal assassin of the Outworld’s evil emperor Shao Kahn and twin sister of his stepdaughter Princess Kitana, but in a truth she is a deformed clone of her created by the sorcerer Shang Tsung. She is supposed to look like Kitana but has the mouth of a Tarkatan warrior. She wears pink to differ from what jade looks like. She is usually defined by her fierce rivalry with Kitana, though the series also serving masters other than Shao Kahn and desiring power for herself.

She was introduction in 1993 as Kitana’s palette swap character, Mileena gained significant popularity and become one of Mortal Kombat’s most iconic characters. She was used in the games’ promotion as a designated sex symbol, but her appearances in the various related media have been relatively rare and minor, compared to Kitana. She received a mixed (mostly due to a remarkable dualism of her character design) but generally favorable critical reception.

After the ruler of the other dimensional realm Outworld, Shao Kahn, conquered the realm of Edenia and merged it with his own, he decided he would keep the former king’s daughter Kitana alive and raise her as his own. Though she grew up knowing nothing of her origin, Kahn nonetheless feared that one day Kitana would discover her true parentage and turn against him, so he ordered Shang Tsung to bring to life a more vicious and loyal version of Kitana that could take her place if necessary, and this has been done by fusing the essence of both Kitana and a Tarkatan warrior from Baraka’s race. The process was not a complete success, however, as the hybrid clone was disfigured with a hideous mouth of the Tarkata. Kahn nonetheless introduced her as Kitana’s supposedly lost twin sister; instead of replacing Kitana, as originally planned, Mileena would be used to ensure her allegiance to him. The two thus grew up together as Shao Kahn’s daughters and personal assassins, though Mileena (who also became a companion of Baraka) secretly grew to harbor great bitterness and jealousy towards Kitana, whom Kahn nevertheless favored over her.

As Kahn feared, Kitana did finally find the truth about her past and so Mileena was ordered to keep close watch over her rival when Kitana secretly allied with Earthrealm warriors during the events of Mortal Kombat II (1993). The two are pitted against each other in the tournament, but Kitana proves to be superior and Mileena is killed, her soul descending into the Netherrealm. In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks (2005), the beat’em up retelling of Mortal Kombat II, Mileena fights against Liu Kang and Kung Lao alongside Jade and Kitana under Kahn’s mental control, but is defeated by the two Shaolin warriors and flees to the Wasteland to seek help from Goro. Damned to the Netherrealm after her death, Mileena swears fealty to Shinnok, the ruler of the realm. During the events of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1996), Shao Kahn attempts to resurrect Mileena. Shinnok sees this as an opportunity to secretly monitor the events unfolding in Earthrealm, and thus he allows Mileena to return to life, also magically granting her the ability to read Kitana’s thoughts. After Kahn is defeated, Mileena is summoned back to the Netherrealm. In Mortal Kombat Gold (1999), she assists in Shinnok’s invasion of Edenia, but allows her sister to escape from a dungeon. After Shinnok’s defeat, Mileena comes to Kitana’ palace and demands the power over Edenia to be shared with her but Kitana refuses and, when attacked, traps Mileena, locking her away in a dungeon.

Mileena remains imprisoned for years, until Onaga the Dragon King began his own invasion of Edenia, during which she is freed from her imprisonment by Baraka. During the events of Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004), Mileena is ordered to pose as Kitana in order to mislead the princess’ armies while Onaga gathered his strength. However, as Mileena begins the game’s titular deception, she also secretly decides to take control of both the forces of Edenia and Onaga’s own undead army for herself. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (2006), Mileena seizes Shao Kahn’s fortress in the name of “peace”. As she did this still under the guise of Kitana, she decides to continue her charade until the Edenian armies were corrupted enough to follow her under her true identity. Though at first confident that Outworld is hers to rule, when the returning Shao Kahn mounts an offensive against the fortress to re-instate his rule over Outworld she is forced to reveal herself and surrender to him. Kahn then commands her to capture Shujinko, who would be used as a bargaining chip in gaining Onaga as an ally, and Mileena locates and defeats Shujinko, taking him to Shao Kahn’s palace. But having tasted power for herself, she is no longer content with being his minion and get the throne of Edenia back for herself. She is later killed by Shang Tsung during the final all-out battle at the Soulnado.

Mileena returns in Mortal Kombat (2011), an alternative-timeline retelling of the original Mortal Kombat trilogy. In this game, Mileena (voiced by Karen Strassman) was created by Shang Tsung in the “Flesh Pit” of Outworld and introduced during the second tournament, instead of many years earlier. Meant to be a loyal replacement for Kitana, she is physically and mentally damaged, her animalistic rage controlled only by Shao Kahn as she uses her lascivious demeanor to lure victims and then slaughter and devour them. In the game’s story mode, she serves as an opponent for Kitana, Jade, Stryker and Kabal, and is referred to by Shao Kahn as his “true daughter.” Her new personality is much more immature (even infantile) than the cold and calculating Mileena of the previous games, and Kitana is also shown to be an unusually sympathic towards her.

Shang Tsung

Shang Tsung is a shape shifting villain that stays young by absorbing souls from people. If Shang Tsung wouldn’t talk any souls, he would age very fast and die for he got these abilities from his “Gods”. His fighting styles are Mantis, Crane, and Snake. The weapon he uses is a straight sword and is from both the Earthrealm and the Outworld. He first appeared as an old man in about his mid-eighties, he had white long hair, a long white beard, a robe, and a long mustache. After that he was aged into his late twenties, early thirties. Most of Shang Tsung’s past remains are shrouded in mystery. On Midway’s Mortal Kombat Mythologies website, Shang Tsung was originally from Earth. However in Armageddon, Tsung binds his soul to Shao Kahn. This provides a loophole for Shang Tsung allowing him to represent the Outworld in the tournament, despite not being a native of the Outworld. Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat Tournament states his origin as Earthrealm or Outworld. According to the first Mortal Kombat comic, he was cursed by his gods to not only kill his enemies, but to take their souls as well. Sadly he can only die if he doesn’t take any souls. As a side effect of his soul stealing, Shang Tsung also absorbs their memories and knowledge. This ability has greatly benefited him for years. At some point in his life, Shang Tsung entered the Mortal Kombat tournament and became Grand Champion. No one knows how long he’s had the title. However, Shang Tsung would eventually be defeated by the Great Kung Lao.
Shang Tsung returned years after his defeat as a much older person then he was. He appeared after one of the Grandmaster’s “mysterious” death happened. With him was his greatest student Goro. Shang Tsung had been ordered by Shao Kahn to finally bring about the winning streak in Mortal Kombat to unbalance the Furies, and weaken the dimensional gates. This will allow the Outworld Emperor to conquer the Earthrealm. After a valiant but doomed fight, The Great Kung Lao was killed by Goro and killed. Shang Tsung consumed The Great Kung Lao’s soul, and the Outworld’s domination of the Mortal Kombat tournament began. Shang Tsung came in contact with another sorcerer named Quan Chi. Quan Chi was seeking a mystical item called Shinnok’s amulet. The amulet’s location was known only to the Shaolin Monks but Shang Tsung knew where the amulet was as a result of consuming the Great Kung Lao’s soul. In exchange for Quan Chi’s and Shinnok’s aid in completing a task for the Emperor Shao Kahn, he revealed the location of the Map of the Elements – but neglected to inform Quan Chi that no sorcerer could enter the Temple where it was stored. Over the next 500 years, as Goro remained undefeated, the tournament fell further into Tsung’s depraved hands. He became the sole Grandmaster, and the tournament came to be held on his private island – in reality, a zone in between Earth and the Outworld. Near the end of this time period, Tsung learned of the swordsman Kenshi. Realizing that Kenshi’s pride could easily be exploited, Tsung disguised himself as an old man named Song and tricked him into releasing his warrior king ancestors, blinding Kenshi in the process. Tsung revealed his true self, consumed the souls, and left Kenshi to die, not knowing the swordsman would survive to become his bitter enemy. Tsung also sparred with Shujinko to determine whether or not he would allow him to enter the tournament. The spar ended in a draw with Tsung granting Shujinko permission to enter. Shujinko did not do so as he was on a quest.
During the tenth Mortal Kombat tournament, the final victory that would enable Kahn to conquer Earth, Liu Kang defeated Goro, breaking the streak. Liu Kang then challenged Shang Tsung in Kombat to restore the honor of the once-sacred tournament; Liu Kang prevailed, and Shang Tsung fled to Outworld. Dragged before Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung begged for his life and said that if they challenged Earthrealm to Mortal Kombat in Outworld, they would have to accept or forfeit. Kahn agreed to this plan, and restored Tsung’s youth. While the tournament served as a diversion, Shao Kahn could continue with his own scheme, 10,000 years in the making: the restoration to life of his former queen, Sindel. During the Outworld tournament, despite having his youth restored and after a long brutal fight, Tsung lost again to Liu Kang, this time in front of Kahn. After Shang Tsung’s defeat at the hands of Liu Kang, Shao Kahn finished the process of Sindel’s resurrection with the aid of his cult of Shadow Priests. Thanks to the help of Quan Chi and Shinnok, her soul would indeed be resurrected – but in Earthrealm, and tainted by evil.
When Queen Sindel was revived in Earthrealm, Shao Kahn could reach across the realms and reclaim her, forcefully merging Earthrealm with Outworld. Shang Tsung led one of Kahn’s extermination squads to hunt down the fighters that Lord Raiden had protected. Despite being granted more power than ever before, Tsung still lost to Liu Kang for a third time. Upon Kahn’s defeat, Shang Tsung retreated with him back to Outworld, when the merger was reversed. Tsung would then be imprisoned and tortured for his failure to help his master merge Earthrealm into Outworld. He was periodically released to do Kahn’s bidding, and was finally released for good after regaining Kahn’s favour.
A few years later, Shang Tsung found Quan Chi in his palace courtyard, fighting Scorpion. When Quan Chi defeated him, he gave Shang an offer: if Tsung helped him revive the lost army of the Dragon King Onaga by means of his ability to transplant souls, he would open a “Soulnado” to the Heavens, giving him an endless supply of souls. Tsung accepted, and together, they formed the Deadly Alliance. Shang Tsung introduced Quan Chi to Shao Kahn, vouched for his loyalty, and then they attacked and apparently killed him (however, Shao Kahn appears in the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat Deception, and reveals that they merely killed a clone). After accepting Kano’s offer to serve them, they travelled through a portal, known only to sorcerers and deities, to Earthrealm and headed to the Wu Shi Academy where Shang Tsung disguised himself as Kung Lao and approached Liu Kang. As Liu practiced his kata, Shang revealed his true form and attacked; although Liu had the upper hand, Quan Chi struck from behind, giving Shang the opportunity to finally take his revenge on Liu Kang by breaking his neck and taking his soul. However, Shang Tsung did not fully trust Quan Chi. Upon returning to Outworld, he gave the Oni Drahmin and Moloch, who had escaped from the Netherealm, an offer: after Tsung performed his part in the plan, Quan Chi, who the two despised for abandoning them in the infernal pits after promising to free them, would be theirs to do with as they wished. The Deadly Alliance soon commanded Kano’s troops to force a small Outworld village to construct a new palace around the tomb to house the Soulnado. When one of the citizens, Li Mei, attacked Kano, they offered to free her village if she could win a tournament they would hold. About the same time, they approached Mavado, offering him a deal as well; he could earn the right to fight and kill Kano in exchange for eliminating Kenshi, who had been spying on Tsung; Mavado accomplished his mission, and the Alliance granted him his wish.
Li Mei, having won the local tournament, demanded her reward, but instead Shang Tsung started transferring her soul to a mummified soldier of Onaga’s army. It was at this time that the forces of Earthrealm, led by Raiden, attacked. Li Mei was rescued by Bo’ Rai Cho, who escaped with her, but the remainder of the warriors assaulted the Alliance. The two defeated Earthrealm’s champions (with Shang Tsung victorious in a one on one battle against an improved Kung Lao) and finally Raiden. Then, Shang’s lust for power and Quan Chi’s suspicion finally came to light. The two fought, and Quan Chi emerged the victor. But immediately after defeating Tsung, he was confronted by the powerful reborn Onaga. Tsung regained consciousness, and recognizing the Dragon King to be a more serious threat, assisted Quan Chi in attacking him. Moments later, the thunder god did as well, but their combined efforts could not stop the former Outworld ruler, who had come to reclaim Shinnok’s amulet and his ancient army. In Raiden’s ensuing last-ditch attempt at victory through a self-sacrificial blast, Shang Tsung was caught in the blast, killing him. The thousands of souls he had consumed over the years were released, including the souls of Liu Kang and the Great Kung Lao.
Tsung’s own soul was magically drawn to Outworld, where he was delivered to Shao Kahn. Tsung had pledged his soul to the emperor ages before and this agreement was binding, even beyond death. Kahn provided Tsung with a new body and then allied with him in taking his kingdom from Mileena, Kitana’s clone once created by Tsung for him. Although Tsung was bound to serve Kahn, an opportunity to free himself arose when he discovered that Quan Chi was alive. Quan Chi brought word from Shinnok of a plan to take a great power, and Tsung realized if he were to take the power for himself, he could sever his bond with Shao Kahn. Until his opportunity arose, Tsung continued to feign loyalty to the emperor while redirecting suspicion to other members of the his alliance. In the ensuing battle of the Armaggeddon, Tsung manages to hold off several warriors, including Kahn himself, and nearly reaches Blaze, but is stopped when Liu Kang’s corpse holds him back with his chains; this causes Tsung to age rapidly and perish.
Shang Tsung appears in the video game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe representing the Mortal Kombat Universe against the DC Universe. Despite an apparent alliance between himself and all of the Mortal Kombat Universe warriors involved in the event, he still has aspirations of supreme power and is as devious a villain as ever. In the story mode, Liu Kang mistook the Flash as Shang Tsung transforming his appearance as a red devil with a lightning bolt on his chest and defeated him. As the Mortal Kombat champion awaited his masters to discover its origin, he showed up and challenged him to a fight in which the sorcerer was defeated. As the realms began to merge with the DC Universe’s Earth, he attempted to invade Themyscira, but was driven off by Wonder Woman and her Amazons. He later teamed up with Quan Chi and Baraka to find Scorpion accomplishing his objective to locate Princess Kitana and bring her to Raiden. As they did so, they saw Captain Marvel nearby, and they lured him into the Netherrealm to kill him, but all were singlehandedly defeated. As they returned to the Thunder God, he was given an assignment to fight alongside Liu Kang. He fought Superman, but Kang turned against him. Nonetheless, he defeated him, however Green Lantern finished him. A fight between them ensued, and Shang Tsung gained the upper hand. He returned once more, only to handle Kano. In the ensuing battle against the DC heroes and villains, he fought against Captain Marvel. He suggested that he should follow Dark Kahn to his fortress, but Raiden himself considered that he was leading them into their doom and fought him. In his ending Shang Tsung, being impressed by Captain Marvel’s fighting ability, but angered at his own defeat by the hero, he seeks to create a new creature which would have Captain Marvel’s abilities but be a perversion of them. Using his sorcery, he merged blood from a torn piece of Captain Marvel’s cape, and the flesh of a Tarkatan corpse. The result of this experiment being a “Super Tarkatan”, an abomination the likes of which had never been seen before. Knowing that he would be unstoppable with more of such creatures, Shang Tsung quickly began preparations to create an army of them.
He is featured as a playable character in Mortal Kombat. As the game is a reboot of the first three titles in the series, his role is mostly consistent with these; however, he is killed when Shao Kahn steals his soul to power up the resurrected Sindel.

Shao Kahn

Shao Kahn was an advisor to the Dragon King, Onaga when he ruled the Outworld. Onaga’s Empire had become the most powerful empire out of all the empires in the realms of mortal Kombat. So Onaga began searching for a way to become immortal. Before Onaga’s goal could come true, Shao Kahn poisoned Onaga and took over the kingdom. He led whatever troops that remained loyal to the Dragon King. Shao Kahn continued with many of the former emperor’s plans. He continued to add realms to the Outworld by either direct conquest or through the Mortal Kombat tournament. Prior to Earthrealm, Shao Kahn’s greatest challenge was a Shokan village (this village is the village of four armed half-human, half-dragon race). Kahn promised to let the village remain in peace if Prince Goro represented him in the Mortal Kombat but Goro didn’t represent Shao Kahn. Goro didn’t represent Shao Kahn because Goro would then win 9 of the 10 consecutive tournaments needed to dominate all of the realms. A milestone in his military victories was the merging of Edenia with Outworld. After his warriors had won in Mortal Kombat, Kahn invaded the Edenia realm. Kahn killed King Jerrod and took his Queen, Sindel as his wife. He also raised their daughter, Princess Kitana as his own. He had the young princess trained as his personal guard and assassin. Sindel took her own life to escape subservience to the emperor. Unwilling to be denied, Kahn kept her soul in Outworld to stop her from transitioning to the afterlife. Kahn had also instructed his sorcerer Shang Tsung to create a Tarkatan-based clone of Kitana, called Mileena, so that she could watch over her and make sure Kitana does not jeopardize his rules. As Kitana grew up, she would not remember her past, and assumed that she and Mileena were Kahn’s twin daughters.

Kahn had entrusted Shang Tsung with the task of making sure Outworld won the 10th consecutive Mortal Kombat tournament, which would allow his armies to invade and conquer Earthrealm. But when Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung, Kahn exercised a loophole in the rules of Mortal Kombat. As Outworld had won the previous tournament, they had the right to challenge the latest winners (Earthrealm) to another tournament. This victory would overrule the previous tournament and allow Kahn to rule all of the realms. Shao Kahn spared Tsung’s life and restored his youth. Kahn then concocted a plan to lure the Earthrealm champions to Outworld; if they could be killed, they would not be able to cause further damage to his plans. He captured Kano and Sonya Blade to use as bait, and enraged Liu Kang by sending Baraka and his troops to destroy the Shaolin temple. Despite Kahn’s vast power, Liu Kang’s determination saw him through, and he defeated the despot. Unwilling to accept defeat, Kahn called his armies to destroy the Earthrealm warriors, who fled back to Outworld, out of Kahn’s clutches.

By the time of Mortal Kombat 3, Shang Tsung was able to resurrect Queen Sindel in Earthrealm, and Kahn would be able to cross the border to claim her. Kahn had Tsung proceed, and once he invaded Earthrealm, he began to merge it with his own realm of Outworld. Nearly every living being in Earthrealm had their souls ripped from their bodies by Kahn, claiming them as his own. Only a few managed to avoid this fate. Kahn’s day finally seemed to have come. But not all hope was lost, as Lord Raiden had protected the souls of a handful of warriors (and some like the robots Sektor and Cyrax had no souls to take and he also couldn’t detect them). Kahn sent extermination squads to hunt them down and kill the remaining survivors. It would be these chosen warriors task to try to stop Kahn, and return Earthrealm to its normal state. In the ensuing fights, Kahn was confronted by Kung Lao, another Shaolin monk and descendant of the warrior Goro defeated to become champion of Mortal Kombat, but Kahn crushed him. It was Liu Kang who again managed to defeat Kahn. Worn down from the battle, Kahn recalled his squads and retreated back to Outworld; this stopped the merge with Outworld, and restored Earthrealm to its original status. To make matters worse for Kahn, many of his loyal soldiers had abandoned him, and Kitana had succeeded in turning Sindel to her side, restoring Edenia as an independent realm.

The emperor was now greatly weakened, and would remain so for a period of several years, remaining inactive during Shinnok’s war against the gods. The Edenians had in the meantime made peace and military treaties with the Shokan, on whom Kahn had always heavily relied, and were ready to attack Outworld a few years later. It was only through his new commander Kano’s ingenuity, and the stealth of his unreliable assassin Noob Saibot (who critically wounded Goro) was Kahn able to save the day (in a manner of speaking) and force the Edenian army into a draw. Soon afterwards, the Deadly Alliance of the sorcerers Quan Chi and Shang Tsung entered his throne room, and swore false allegiance to the emperor. Quan Chi and Shang Tsung caught Shao Kahn off guard and seemingly killed him. This would appear to be the demise of Kahn, in the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat: Deception it is however revealed that he did not die, and that it was a clone that Quan Chi and Shang Tsung killed. The real Kahn appeared to the wounded Goro and, using what little power he had left, revived him, thus gaining Goro and the Shokan as allies once again.

In the events of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Shao Kahn is the Warlord of Outworld once again. It was revealed in the biographies of Shang Tsung and Mileena that Shao Kahn had regained power after Onaga’s defeat, by storming his own fortress (then under the command of Mileena who had earlier deceived and used Kitana’s Edenian force to capture the fortress) with the aid of Goro and Shang Tsung. When he succeeds in using his own brute force to storm the throne room, Mileena surrenders to him and Shao Kahn becomes Outworld’s ruler once more. Later on, he would go on to form an uneasy alliance with Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, and Onaga in the hopes of defeating Blaze and seizing his godlike powers. The alliance faltered and Kahn was carried away from Blaze by Onaga after Tsung nearly knocked him off Blaze’s pyramid. Kahn managed to escape and fought Raiden, the last remaining kombatant.

Shao Kahn and Darkseid are the key villains in the crossover game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. At the beginning, Shao Kahn is shown after his defeat limping into a graveyard where he meets with his secret ally Quan Chi. Where they are shortly confronted by Raiden, who uses a lightning bolt on Shao Kahn, which knocks him into Quan Chi’s portal. This event, along with a similar event between Superman and Darkseid in the DC Universe, results in the creation of Dark Kahn, who serves as the main antagonist in the game. After Dark Kahn is defeated, Shao Kahn ends up in the DC Universe’s Darkseid’s throne room, where he discovers he has lost his powers. He is promptly imprisoned in the Phantom Zone, where he, like countless other criminals, would lose his powers due to the effects of the zone. In Shao Kahn’s ending, the Phantom Zone, known for neutralizing it’s inhabitant’s powers, has no effect on him due to his magic, instead the opposite happens, and the zone returns his powers to him, whereby he frees an army of Kryptonian villains. In gratitude they swear allegiance to the emperor, and plan to help him conquer all of the universes.

In the Mortal Kombat (2011) “reboot” game’s backstory, Shao Kahn defeats and delivers the final blow to Raiden, but not before the latter could send a message to his earlier self by way of a cracked talisman. By sending himself a message earlier on, Raiden tries to prevent the future from happening in the past. The talisman then periodically informs Raiden of his progress in preventing Armageddon by becoming less and less cracked.

The story then proceeds to concatenate the stories of all of the previous games into a cohesive plot that includes all of the main characters from the past games. Raiden eventually realizes that Kahn’s efforts to merge the realms must not be stopped, because by doing so, the Elder Gods take action against Kahn. Liu Kang tries to defy Raiden’s order to not fight Shao Kahn, and as a result is killed by Raiden in a twist of events. By stopping Liu Kang it causes Shao Kahn to continue to break the rules and merge the realms before completing his victory in Mortal Kombat between Outworld and Earthrealm. This enrages the gods, causing them to give Raiden their power and destroy Shao Kahn completely.

Kung Lao

Kung Lao is a former Shaolin Monk who has a friend named Liu Kang. He stands in a great shadow from one of his great ancestors named Great Kung Lao. He doesn’t want to be the champion but he wants to live in a world of peace. He used to be part of the White Lotus Society but decided to leave. He did get counseling from Master Bo’ Rai Cho.  He uses his hat as a fighting tool and the weapons he uses are battle are an axe and a broadsword. His trade mark is the razor rimed hat that he wears in Mortal Kombat. The hat was inspired by the movie James Bond Goldfinger.

In Mortal Kombat II, Kung Lao is possibly the last known descendant of the Great Kung Lao. The Great Kung Lao was a former Champion of Mortal Kombat, but lost the title and his life to Goro, 500 years ago. It resulted in the start of Shang Tsung’s rule over the tournament. Kung Lao was originally the representative for the Shaolin in the Mortal Kombat tournament, but he declined the offer because he knew that if he wins, he will become champion. As a result, Liu Kang was given the offer and became Champion of the Mortal Kombat tournament. When the Shaolin temple was attacked by Baraka and his Tarkatan soldiers, Liu Kang and Kung Lao traveled through the portal to the Outworld to avenge their fallen Shaolin brothers. They turned out victorious in their conquest. Kung Lao’s ultimate goal was to rebuild the White Lotus Society at the Wu Shi Academy. He wanted it to happen so he can train warriors to fight the war that is going to happen in the future. After Liu Kang defeated Shao Kahn, the monks returned to Earth and began training the new Shaolin warriors.

In Mortal Kombat 3 Shao Kahn invaded the Earthrealm. This caused Kung Lao to temporarily postpone his plans for reforming the White Lotus Society. Eventually, he finds and battles Shao Kahn. The Emperor of Outworld defeated Kung Lao and injured him so bad that people believed that he had died. Hearing of Kung Lao’s apparent death enraged his friend Liu Kang. It caused Liu Kang to challenge Shao Kahn and he successfully defeated Shao Kahn for the second time.

In Mortal Kombat Gold Kung Lao decided not return to Shaolin temple and allow everyone to believe that he was dead. Instead he went on to live a life of peace in respect to the beliefs of his ancestors. This didn’t last long, as he was driven away from his peaceful life when he heard the news that Goro was alive. He went and helped fight the war against Shinnok’s warriors after he heard the news. Once Shinnok’s warriors were defeated, Kung Loa went out to attack Goro. Goro at that time signed a peace treaty with the Centaurs under the supervision of the mediation of Kitana. Instead of attempting assassination, Kung Lao decided to attack Goro with a ceremonial strike of vengeance for the death of the Great Kung Lao. With this action, it caused the two warriors to shake hand and end their conflict.

In Deadly Alliance the next years of Kung Lao’s life after Mortal Kombat Gold, were peaceful. Kung Lao’s life turned for the worst when the sorcerers Quan Chi and Shang Tsung united, and destroyed Liu Kang to death, in a vicious attack. When Kung Lao found Liu Kang’s body, he was told by Master Raiden that Shang Tsung and Quan Chi were the assassins, who had formed a Deadly Alliance. This caused Kung Lao to enrage and vowed revenge for his friend Liu Kang. He once again abandoned his Shaolin beliefs. He believed that his current skills weren’t strong enough to defeat Shang Tsung, so after meeting with the other Earthrealm warriors and traveling to Outworld. Kung Lao told Kitana about the death of Liu Kang, she tagged along with Kung Lao and sought advice from the martial arts teacher Bo’ Rai Cho. Master Bo’ Rai Cho trained Kung Lao for a short period of time. Together, they joined the other warriors in the fight against the two sorcerers.

In Deception the assault in Deadly Alliance did not end well, Raiden and his companions were fighting a losing battle, do to Liu Kang’s death. Kung Lao and Kitana challenged the Deadly Alliance. Kitana would be killed by Quan Chi and Kung Lao would be killed by Shang his caused Master Raiden to battle the Deadly Alliance. Kung Lao was then revived by Onaga as one of Onaga’s slaves. The brainwashed people were later on released from Onaga’s spell. They were released by Liu Kang spirit after being defeated by Ermac. After the spell was released, Kung Lao and everyone else embraced Liu Kang as they celebrate their short lived defeat.

In Armageddon, the God of Wind describes Kung Lao as having joined forces with Kung Lao to bring Master Raiden and Liu Kang under control. They did this because it was becoming a disaster with the God of Thunder becoming as ruthless as Shao Kahn, and Liu Kang’s corpse selectively slaying various people. Fujin, the God of Wind, then goes on to state that if there is no way to change Master Raiden and Liu Kang back to their normal state as a God and a Champion of Mortal Kombat then Fujin and Kung Lao would be forced to finish off the warriors. Kung Lao successfully kills Baraka in battle, but is eventually defeated by Shinnok’s clone.

In the adventure game Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Kung Lao’s character was explored to a greater degree than what was shown in the previous Mortal Kombat games. Kung Lao is portrayed in Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monk as feeling almost resentful of Liu Kang’s victory in the Shaolin tournament. He and Liu Kang are shown to be friends most of the time but he constantly baiting his fellow Shaolin monks and at the tournament which they were sent to compete in from Master Raiden (Shang Tsung in disguise). A rivalry between Liu Kang and Kung Lao was established for the first time in the Shaolin Monk clan. The two fighters defeated Shang Tsung’s warriors and gained victories in Mortal Kombat. It formed a race of people to become the Champion of Mortal Kombat. This caused Kung Lao to want to become the Champion which it seemed gloating to Liu Kang that Kung Lao will win this tournament. This rivalry between Liu Kang and Kung Lao escalated until they were convinced that the other was corrupted by the Outworld.

In Mortal Kombat (2011) Master Raiden has been given visions from his future self, and begins to try and change the events that will lead to the Armageddon war. He allows Kung Lao to fight and defeat Kintaro then he was killed by Shao Kahn. This enrages Liu Kang and decided to kill Shao Kahn. After Kung Lao’s death Master Raiden shows Kung Lao a vision of the past at his ancestor’s burial site. This vision shows that Kung Lao is in fact the reincarnation of the Great Kung Lao.

Mortal Kombat: Master Raiden

Master Raiden is the god of thunder in Mortal Kombat. He thinks of terms eternally not human life span do to the reason that he is immortal. He also has other supernatural powers like thunder, flight, and teleportation. He’s outfit staid the same throughout all the Mortal Kombat games but different colors and designs. He’s always worn a Chinese hat called a conical hat. His hat got more advanced by getting straighter and wider. In the newer versions of Mortal Kombat his hat was made of metal not straw. His staff of power helps him control lighting plus he uses it as a weapon to defeat his opponents. His other weapon is a war hammer. The creators named him Raiden after a small, red-skinned demon that beats a drum to create lightning. His aperients look like the Taoist thunder god. He mainly watches over and protects the earthrealm. He’s a main part of Mortal Kombat, he tells people where to go through their visions.

His special moves in Mortal Kombat Deception are Lightning Bolt, Lightning Dash, Teleport, and Shocking Touch. Light Bolt is the move where Master Raiden launches a bolt of lightning at his opponent causing a shock of damage. It’s a good move to launch from a far or short distance. Lightning Dash is the move where he spins towards you surrounded by lightning. This move is great for short distances and to deal great damage. Teleport is where he teleports behind his opponent to get the higher advantage to defeat his opponents. It’s the perfect move to gain ahead in the battle or to change who is hitting who. Shocking Touch is the move where he touches someone with his hand that surrounded with lightning making a big explosion launching his enemy. Shocking touch can be used to deal lots of damage to his opponents. He has two fatality moves. His first one is where he shocks his opponent till he shatters then it bounces back to him and does the same thing to him. His second one is where he takes lightning from the air and shocks his opponent till he shatters. His only Hara-Kiri is where he causes you to shock yourself till you shatter.

Raiden became the protector of the Earthrealm ever since it was made. He fought against the Elder God Shinnok because in a war it threatened to destroy the Earthrealm. One of the areas of the war was the Saurian civilization, which forces the survivors to immigrate to another world. One of the survivors was Reptile and his survivors named the planet they moved to Zaterra. Raiden managed to defeat Shinnok with the help of the Elder Gods, then banished Shinnok to the Netherealm and secured Shinnok’s amulet of power in a secret location. That secret location a Temple of the Elements tucked away in the highest mountains of Nepal. Raiden charged four gods with guarding the amulet. The gods are the gods of Wind, Fire, Earth, and Water. The elder Sub-Zero stole Shinnok’s amulet from the temple for Quan Chi millions of years later. This caused Raiden to appear to one of the Lin Kuei warriors and instructed him to enter the Netherealm and steal it back before Shinnok use it to free himself. Raiden couldn’t retrieve it himself because his powers would dissipate in the Netherealm. Sub-Zero’s mission into the Netherealm was a successful and Shinnok was no longer a threat. Even though Sub-Zero got a false amulet from Quan Chi, Raiden never realized that Quan Chi would remain in possession of the true amulet for years.

In the original Mortal Kombat, Raiden was invited by Shang Tsung to compete in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Raiden accepted the invitation and took a human form to compete. He also was able to keep his elemental power of lightning during the tournament. In Mortal Kombat II, watching from high above, Raiden realizes how grim Shao Kahn became. Raiden warned Liu Kang and Kung Lao (the last people in the Shaolin tournament) of Shao Kahn’s threat. Raiden then disappears to the Outworld alone. Despite the souls taken by Shao Kahn on Earth, Raiden was able to protect the souls of Liu Kang and other chosen warriors from getting taken. Raiden decided to sacrifice his own immortality in order to help his chances to defeat Kahn after the Elder Gods refused to help him in Mortal Kombat Trilogy. At the end, Kahn’s forces were defeated causes them to repel the invasion back into the Outworld and restoring the Earthrealm to its rightful state. In Mortal Kombat 4, Shinnok again sought to rise from the Netherealm and conquer the realms but this time got the help from Quan Chi. However, with Liu Kang again uniting Earth’s warriors at the side of the Raiden’s Forces of Light emerged successful. Now granted by the Elder Gods, he turned over his position as the Earthrealm’s protector to Fujin.

As an Elder God, Raiden couldn’t interfere when Shang Tsung and Quan Chi killed Liu Kang at the Wu Shi Academy. Disgusted at his peers for their refusal to intervene, he gives up his position as an Elder God and gathered his trusted warriors to stop the Deadly Alliance. This time, disaster struck the heroes. The Earthrealm warriors Jax Briggs, Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage were killed in battle with a Tarkatan horde, Kitana was killed by Quan Chi, and Kung Lao was killed by Shang Tsung. In a desperate measure to stop the battle Raiden personally confronted Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. Raiden put up an admirable fight and managed to hold his own against both villains for a while, but when they combined there powers they were in the end too much for him. He returned to his feet when Onaga entered the chamber. Putting his differences aside with Tsung and Quan Chi, he assisted them in the attempts to repel Onaga, he released his godly essence and causes an enormous explosion. It obliterated the Dragon King’s tomb and killed both members of the Deadly Alliance but did little damage to Onaga.

After doing battle with the Deadly Alliance in the Netherealm, Raiden’s essence soon gathered again in the Earthrealm, but came back corrupted. This is proven that Raiden’s essence did not reform as he became a new god but a darker variants of himself. He had become furious with the way the people have treated the Earthrealm. He became more enraged when he learned that Shujinko had unleashed the Onaga by obtaining the Kamidogu of various realms for Onaga. Raiden’s patience caused his decision to take matters into his own hands. Removing Liu Kang’s body from its grave, Raiden took it to an underground temple that he had destroyed centuries earlier. Binding Kang’s body with enchanted shackles, Raiden spoke the enchantments sketched into the temple’s walls. He revived his former ally infusing Liu Kang with a thunderclap of lightning. The corpse of Liu Kang was now the enforcer of Raiden’s will. Raiden sent Kang’s corpse on a mission to wreak havoc on the people who Raiden thought did harm to Earthrealm. This caught the attention of Shinnok causing him to appear before Raiden and offered him an alliance. Raiden was told by Shinnok that he would help him in whatever he wanted, he would try to ensure the safety of Earthrealm. Raiden new of Shinnok’s deceptive nature, so Raiden accepted the offer to uncover Shinnok’s master plans.

Raiden’s story is further expanded in the Konquest mode of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, when Taven encounters him. Raiden informs Taven that he had struck a deal with Shao Kahn, agreeing to let the Emperor conquer all other realms except for the Earthrealm. In return, Raiden agreed to hunt and eliminate Taven, so that Shao Kahn could claim Blaze’s godlike powers. Raiden confronts Taven as Kahn, Onaga, Shang Tsung, and Quan Chi escape into a portal leading to Edenia. He is unsuccessful because he was defeated by Taven, and left unconscious on the ground. Taven was still in shock and disbelief at Raiden’s actions, he decides to follow the villains through the portal. Raiden would fought against Shao Kahn when they became the last surviving warriors. Shao Kahn emerged victorious, but Raiden was able to send a message to his past self.

Raiden returns and fights in the fighting game Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. He plays the role in the Story mode of the game as the person who created Dark Kahn, which causes the Mortal Kombat and DC Universes to merge together. He also comes into contact with Batman when he rescues Liu Kang from Batman and his questioning regarding to merging of the worlds. Raiden attempts to electrocute Batman but has no effect because of batman’s insulated body armor. Raiden is able to teleport himself away from the UN Orbital Space Station with Kang. He later challenges Sub-Zero into a fight. Then he enrages Captain Marvel. After the battle between the two universes, he defeats Shang Tsung and Liu Kang. Realizing his horrible mistake, he teams up with Superman to defeat Dark Kahn. He imprisons Darkseid in the Netherrealm after he defeats Dark Kahn. In the end, Raiden returns to his realm to find out that the sun in his world has weakened him. Quan Chi offers Raiden a large jade amulet that would restore his powers. Raiden is given a choice between a life of servitude to the sorcerer, or mortality.

Raiden is the pivotal character in the newer Mortal Kombat. Taking place in the events of Armageddon, Raiden realizes that the world is in peril due to the events accrued during the tenth Mortal Kombat tournament (the setting of the original Mortal Kombat). During a mortal battle with Shao Kahn, Raiden transmits a message through time and space to himself at the time of the tournament. The Raiden of the past has been told of the knowledge of his future, he commits to using this information to alter the course of history to avoid the disaster of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Although, he succeeds in fulfilling his vision it causes the death of nearly all of the Earthrealm Defenders, including Liu Kang.

Mortal Kombat: Sub-Zero

My best character to play as on Mortal Kombat Deception is Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero is my best fighter because I am really good at using his special moves. His moves in Mortal Kombat Deception are freeze ball, ice clone, and cold shoulder. I mostly use ice clone or freeze ball because cold shoulder isn’t really a strong move. Freeze ball is a move were Sub-Zero launches a ball of ice at his opponents to freeze them where they stand. The only way to dodge his attack is to move to the side. I mostly launch the freeze ball when they are far away from me or somewhat close. Ice clone is a clone of Sub-Zero that replaces his spot. It freezes his opponents only if they hit it. I find it funny because it’s pretty much a trap for people to hit. The only way to n++ot freeze up is to not hit it at all because it melts after 10 seconds. I use ice clone when I’m about to get attacked or when my enemy is right in front of my body. I don’t like to use cold shoulder because I think it’s a worthless move. Cold shoulder is the easiest move to block. Either my opponent can block the move or move to the side. The move just deals with a lot of damage but doesn’t freeze my opponent. Sub-Zero slides towards his opponent and hits them with his shoulder.

Sub-Zero is from Chinese Earthrealm. His moves are mostly based of ice because he came from a clan that was based off of ice. His first outfit looked like Scorpion or Reptile but in blue. He looked like a blue ice ninja of awesomeness. He was unmasked in Mortal Kombat 3 showing his face with a red scar on his left eye. After Mortal Kombat 3 the scar moved to the right eye.  The scar on the right eye went from his forehead to the other side of his eye. The scar across his right eye was a mark of death. His next outfit is my favorite; it was in Mortal Kombat Deception. His scar fades away and he wears an awesome outfit. His belt is the dragon medallion that he got from beating Sektor and returning to Lin Kuei clan. The medallion boosts the owner’s powers. This helps Sub-Zero do his fatalities and Hara-kiri. A fatality and Hara-kiri is the final move to destroy your opponent. A fatality is the move where you destroy your opponent but a Hara-kiri is the final move where your opponent killed himself. He has two fatalities and one Hara-kiri in Mortal Kombat Deception. His first fatality is where he freezes your whole body and rips off your head, then slides back and launches it at your body. That causes your body to shatter into many little pieces. His second fatality freezes the bottom half of your body, and he kicks your feet causing them to shatter. As you crawl away scared and helpless he walks up to you and smashes your head with his foot. His Hara-kiri move is where you freezes yourself and break yourself. In Mortal Kombat Armageddon his scar reappears except for his alternate costume.

He is not one person. Sub-Zero is a name that is used for certain people that are brothers. The first Sub-Zero is named Bi-Han, he was in the first Mortal Kombat game. He was supposed to enter the titular tournament and kill the host Shang Tsung. He entered the tournament but failed to kill Shang Tsung. He was killed by the Scorpion. In Mortal Kombat 2 Kuei Liang became the new Sub-Zero and was assigned to take Bi-Han failed mission. Kuei Liang had a friend named Smoke, they were both part of the Lin Kuei clan. The younger Sub-Zero turned escaped from the Lin Kuei clan because they were turning there solders into cyborgs. Three cyborgs were sent to kill Sub-Zero and one of the cyborgs was his friend Smoke. At the time of when the Lin Kuei clan sent the assassins, Sub-Zero got a vision from Master Raiden to join the rebels that are against the new threat. In Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero is the sequel to Mortal Kombat 1 where Sub-Zero was sent to find and give an amulet to Quan Chi. Sub-Zero Is sent to the Netherworld to learn that the amulet releases a god named Shinnok by Master Raiden. Sub-Zero defeats Shinnok and gives Master Raiden the Amulet.

In Mortal Kombat 4 Master Raiden summons the younger Sub-Zero to defend the Earthrealm from Shinnok while the other Sub-Zero is fighting Scorpion. Sub-Zero was fighting Scorpion because he was told by Quan Chi that the Lin Kuei killed his family. His family was actually killed by Quan Chi. In Mortal Kombat Deadly alliance he beat Sektor for leadership over the Lin Kuei clan. He also found a girl named Frost. He trained her because she almost had the same powers as he did. Frost wanted to be the leader of the Lin Kuei clan so she tried to freeze Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero’s dragon medallion reflected Frost’s freezing blast back at her froze her. Sub-Zero takes her to the Underworld and buries her by the ancestors of Cryomancers. He then forgives her for what she tried to do. She unfreezes in Mortal Kombat Unchained and she thinks Sub-Zero took the dragon Medallion from her. She tries to kill Sub-Zero but failed and was frozen by Sub-Zero this time. He then took her to a shrine to be frozen for as long as possible. She awakens in Mortal Kombat Armageddon Konquest.

But before she attacks him, he joins this guy’s group named Shujinko to fight against Onaga in Mortal Kombat Deception. He also has to confront his corrupted brother Noob Saibot. In Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monk he was at first a boss character until he allies with Kung Lao and Liu Kang. He joins them until he finds his older brother. In Mortal Kombat Armageddon Konquest Sub-Zero has to fight a warrior named Taven because he and his people tried to attack the Lin Kuei Palace. They join together to fight against Noob Saibot and Smoke. After they defeat Noob Saibot and Smoke, Sub-Zero tries to find a cure for Noob Saibot. In Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe he is a playable character in the game. He is in a war between the titular fictional universes. He and Batman are supposed to be dark and mysterious. The different thing between Batman and Sub-Zero is that Sub- Zero is from Mortal Kombat and Batman is from DC comics. In the 2011 Mortal Kombat game, Bi-Han was killed by Scorpion and was turned into Noob Saibot. Kuai Liang was turned into a cyborg instead of Smoke but was able to control his mind and fight with Master Raiden. They were fighting against Shao Kahn but Sub-Zero was killed by a woman named Sindel. He was then enslaved in the Netherrealm by Quan Chi.

Sub-Zero threw my understanding and research is that he is two people and they are brothers. I have learned a lot more about Sub-Zero then I have playing a few Mortal Kombat games. I’ve learned that he was more than one person and that the first Sub-Zero turned into Noob Saibot after he was killed by Scorpion. I also learned a lot about his background story and what his purpose was for in each Mortal Kombat game. I also learned that Smoke was Sub-Zero’s friend. Before this project I thought Noob and Smoke where pure evil and the ultimate team to beat in Mortal Kombat but I was wrong. It turns out that they were programed to be evil. I had fun researching about Sub-Zero and am hoping that our next Monthly writing project is like this.

Mortal Kombat: Noob Saibot and Smoke

Noob Saibot: His name came from the last name of the creators of Mortal Kombat spelled backwards. He was the first Sub-Zero, he turned into Noob Saibot after Scorpion killed him. His actual name is Bi Han. He’s from the Earthrealm but he was reborn in the Netherealm. He fights with Smoke in Deception and they are programed to be really good fighters in the game.

Noob Saibot’s design was focused in blackness. The creators found difficulties in making some of the Mortal Kombat versions. In Mortal Kombat: Deception, Noob Saibot was the first character drawn with designs on him. In Mortal Kombat Deception, they attempted with multiple outfits to make him more distinctive and less blackness. One design was not used because of how difficult it was with the details and the similarities to a tuxedo. Another one was where he wore a hood but used the outfit for a new character. An early alternate outfit was chosen for Noob Saibot with a black, red and blue outfit. The outfit had Japanese words for the darkness in the front flaps. He was also shown unmasked but ended up as Havik’s alternate outfit. For Mortal Kombat Deception, it was on purpose to introduce a two-on-two combat team, but was only used with Noob Saibot and Smoke. Both characters were used for the concept of a two-on-two combat team, and were intended to work together on their fatality.

Noob Saibot was first introduced in Mortal Kombat II as a hidden opponent. He was given the name Noob Saibot and was made playable in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy. In the latter two games he allies with the emperor Shao Kahn and secretly observes him. In Mortal Kombat 4 he was a playable character but he was eventually changed to being hidden. In Mortal Kombat 4, he serves the fallen Elder God Shinnok. Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition featured Noob Saibot as a playable character but served as one of Shao Kahn’s soldiers. In Mortal Kombat: Deception, Noob Saibot is free to command his own group of assassins. He makes the cyborg Smoke, they both appear as early bosses, under the name Noob Smoke. This game explains that Noob Saibot was the first Sub-Zero that appeared in the first Mortal Kombat tournament but was killed by Scorpion. This revels more as you explore further in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks when Noob Saibot is pursued by his younger brother. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Noob Saibot was a playable character. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon’s story mode, Noob Saibot and Smoke invade the Lin Kuei ninja clan’s castle. They had to simulate most of the defending Lin Kuei ninja, turning them into their own warrior. Noob Saibot and Smoke are defeated by Taven, Noob Saibot is left in the castle unconscious. Sub-Zero tries to force Noob Saibot to recall his past identity. Noob Saibot’s appears in the 2011 Mortal Kombat video game. After being killed by Scorpion, he is resurrected by Quan Chi and serves as one of Quan Chi enforcers. Supporting him and Shao Kahn, Noob Saibot is trapped by Nightwolf in a magical tornado that explodes.

Smoke: Smoke is a cyborg reprogramed by Noob Saibot but was created by the Lin Kuei Clan. Before he was a cyborg he was a man named Tomas Vrbada from Prague. His friend was the newer Sub-Zero. His outfit kind of looks like Cyrax’s outfit, but in the color black. He’s a cyborg that fights alongside with Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat Deception, otherwise all the other Mortal Kombat games he fights by himself. In the 2011 Mortal Kombat game

Smoke first appeared in Mortal Kombat 2 as a non-playable, hidden character spotted in the Living Forest. Smoke made his playable debut in Mortal Kombat 3 as a selectable character that could be unlocked by entering the correct Ultimate Kombat Kode just before the end of gameplay. His story in Mortal Kombat 3 was a friend of Sub-Zero and a fellow Lin Kuei assassin. Both Sub-Zero and Smoke escape from the Lin Kuei clan and learning of their Grandmaster’s plan to convert the best warriors of the clan, into cybernetic units. Smoke is captured, transformed, and programmed as the third cybernetic unit ordered to hunt down his friend, Sub-Zero. In his Mortal Kombat 3 ending, he discovers that he still retains his soul, with the help of Sub-Zero, and aids Sub-Zero in defeating Cyrax and Sektor. In Mortal Kombat Deception, he is located by Noob Saibot in an Outworld dungeon. He was one of Kahn’s war trophies in the dungeon. Noob Saibot reprogrammed him and hoped to use his nano-technology to create an army of oni-cyborgs in the Netherealm. In Mortal Kombat: Armageddon’s Konquest mode, Noob and Smoke attack the Lin Kuei temple, but Smoke gets killed by Taven. In the 2011 Mortal Kombat game, Raiden altered the timeline which caused Smoke from getting captured from the Lin Kuei clan and from him getting set up to undergo the cybernetic conversion process. This causes his cybernetic form to no longer exist and he remains a human. His real name is Tomas Vrbada and he was originally from Prague. Along with most of the Earthrealm warriors, he is killed by Sindel near the end of the game.

Noob and Smoke: They are the perfect tag team people to ever have together because of who they are. One is the original Sub-Zero and the older brother of the newer Sub-Zero as the other is the friend of the newer Sub-Zero. They are both dark characters in the Mortal Kombat video games. They work perfectly together in Mortal Kombat Deception. There moves in Mortal Kombat Deception are the same for both characters.

Their moves are Smokeycut, Dark Assassin, Death From Above, Dark Shadows, We Live, and Darkness. Smokeycut is where they switch roles by teleporting behind their opponent and hitting them. Dark Assassin is where the fighter ducks and the other guy launch weapons at their enemies. Death From Above is another switch character move that makes the guy that is switching to attack. The guy that is going to attack, teleports and kicks their opponent in the face. Dark Shadow is when the fighter teleports into the ground and out right under is opponent and hits them with an upper cut. We Live is where both Noob and Smoke come out and power punches their enemies. Darkness is where they leave black smoke in the air for their opponent to run into it. They have two Fatalities and two Hara-Kiris. Their first Fatality is where Noob launches ninja stars at his opponents but his last one he turns horizontally and sticks it in his opponents head. Their second Fatality is where Smoke disappears and rips his opponent apart. Their first Hara-Kiri is where Noob launches ninja stars in the air and has them stab into himself. Their second one is where Smoke self-destructs himself.

Mortal Kombat: Scorpion

Scorpion is a dead person that is seeking revenge to kill the people that destroyed his tribe and killed his family. Scorpion is a code name for a ninja named Hanzo Hasashi. He’s one of the Shirai Ryu’s best warriors and is from the Earthrealm. After people killed him, he became a hell creature that would make allies with anyone who would help him with his goal. He killed the first Sub-Zero thinking Sub-Zero killed his tribal members. He later finds out that the guy, who told him that Sub-Zero killed his family, was the actual killer. All of Scorpion’s outfits in Mortal Kombat make him look like a ninja. From the first Mortal Kombat to the fourth Mortal Kombat he looked just like Sub-Zero but in a yellow color. His outfit stayed the same in every single Mortal Kombat, but got more advances. His mouth guard changed and he gained two swords on his back. His other outfit is where he takes off his mask and shows his face which is a skull on fire. He looks like the ninja Ghost rider if there ever was one. His skeleton outfit was meant to show what he looked like after he was killed. The weapons he used are an axe, a broadsword, and a ninjato. His famous catch phrase is “Get over hear”, which he uses when he does his spear move (the thing he’s doing in the picture above). The phrase was made to be funny in the video game. It got famous over the years, so they kept the phrase and the spear move in every single Mortal Kombat. The spear move became an important part of him and who he is. His moves are based off the element of fire.

His special moves in Deception are Spear, Hellfire, Backflip Kick, and Teleport Attack. Spear is where he launches a spear head that’s attached to a string which is connected to his hand at his opponents. When the spear gets Scorpion’s opponents, he pulls them towards himself so that he can attack them. It’s a good move to use when someone is walking away but to dodge it is to move to the side. Hellfire is where he summons fire from under his opponents and burns them. Backflip Kick is where he kicks his opponents while doing a backflip, plus his feet are on fire. It’s really good to use when you’re close to the person and to deal a good amount of damage. Teleport Attack is where he teleports behind his opponents and jump kicks them. It is mostly good when needed to gain the fighting advantage. Scorpion has two Fatalities and a Hara-Kiri. His first fatality is where he launches his spear head at his opponents arm and rips it off. Then he launches it at his opponents opposite leg, ripping it off. As His opponent is begging for mercy, he walks up to them and dislocates their head. His second fatality is where he grabs his opponent’s neck and rips off their spinal cord form their body. His Hara-Kiri is where he causes you to kneel down and dislocate your head.

Scorpion is the code name of the ninja named Hanzo Hasashi. He is one of the Shirai Ryu’s finest warriors, who became a hellspawned revenant. He resides in the Netherrealm underworld and is seeking revenge against those who destructed his clan and the death of his family. Scorpion will ally with anyone who can assist his plans of revenge. He was once manipulated by Quan Chi that Sub-Zero was one of the people that destroyed his clan. Scorpion is a spectre so sorcery and supernatural anomalies have proven effective against him in battle, but none of it had served him to destroy Sub-Zero. Scorpion is in the first Mortal Kombat game as a dead warrior. He enters the Mortal Kombat tournament to kill Sub-Zero. Scorpion manages to kill Sub-Zero, but later learns that Sub-Zero’s mission was to compete in the second tournament to kill the host. When scorpion heard that his Sub-zero had somehow returned, Scorpion tracks him down during the tournament. He realizes that the newer Sub-Zero was actually the Sub-Zero he killed younger brother. Then he found out that after he killed the newer Sub-Zero’s brother, the newer Sub-Zero had to complete his brother’s mission. As a result, Scorpion vows to serve as the new Sub-Zero’s guardian as an in sorry for killing your older brother. Scorpion appears as a boss character in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, as he tries to kill Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Scorpion returns to the series in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. He appears when Shao Kahn tries to conquer the Netherealm, after Shao Kahn’s invasion to the Earthrealm. Scorpion’s allegiance with Kahn quickly dissipates when he hears that Sub-Zero becomes one of Earthrealm’s chosen warriors, which he sides in their final showdown with Shao Kahn.

In Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, Scorpion is only a boss character. Scorpion is given a mission from Quan Chi to find a map hidden in a Shaolin temple which was also given to Sub-Zero. After Scorpion was killed by Sub-Zero, he attempts to kill Sub-Zero in the Netherrealm. In Mortal Kombat 4 he is tricked by Quan Chi that the younger Sub-Zero was actually involved in the deaths of his family and clan. Scorpion defeats the new Sub-Zero, but when Quan Chi reveals what truly happens to his clan, Scorpion rages on Quan Chi and grabs him sending Quan Chi to the Netherealm. In Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Scorpion is attacked by the Oni Drahmin and Moloch. Oni Drahimin and Moloch free Quan Chi from the Netherealm. Scorpion continues searching for Quan Chi and eventually meets the Elder Gods. The Elder Gods give him a new mission to seek and destroy Onaga before Onaga unmakes the realms in Mortal Kombat Deception. In the Konquest mode of Armageddon, Scorpion makes a deal with the Elder Gods to serve them in exchange for the resurrection of the Shirai Ryu clan and his family. The Elder Gods resurrect the Clan people and scorpion’s family as undead beings. Scorpion becomes pissed at the Elder Gods, so he searches for the Elder Gods to destroy them. He takes Blaze’s power (that was meant for Taven or Daegon), but Scorpion is killed by Sub-Zero in battle. In Shaolin Monks, he is a boss character and a playable character for both versus mode and story mode. In the 2011 Mortal Kombat game, Scorpion reprises his role from the first tournaments. Scorpion serves Quan Chi not even knowing that Quan Chi was the actual person that killed his clan and family. He kills Sub-Zero despising the fact of Raiden’s negotiations with him to revive his clan.

Other people that I’ve talk to make it seem that Sub-Zero and Scorpion are pure enemies because one is fire and the other is ice. I think from what I have learned is that yes they had their bad times but Scorpion did protect the newer Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat 2. Plus I think more people like Scorpion than any other character in Mortal Kombat but I could be wrong. Scorpion seems to me as a heart broken, confused person do to what has happened to him.
